Here is a very special pumpkin from Japan in the same species as butternut. The flavour of Chrimen Squash is exceptionally rich and the flesh is fine grained in a way similar to butternut. Plants produce medium “pot sized” fruits and stores pretty well. They are beautiful with very striking mat grey/green to burnt orange colouring and all sorts of variation inbetween.
As far as growth is concerned Chirmen squash is of the most productive there is around. When all goes well they just keep on producing. At Glen Seeds we harvested more than 15 fruits of a single Chirmen Squash plant! The plants get pretty big and needs some space but due to the medium size of the fruits they work very well trellised.
Approximately 10 seeds
