African Birds Eye Long Chili

African Birds Eye Chillies, the original Peri Peri chilli. Originally developed by Portuguese Settlers in Mozambique from where it  spread to surrounding African countries and eventually all over the world. For making sauces or adding to your cooking, African Birds Eye is tried and tested. The Chillies are considered hot at a scoville range indicted mostly around 150 000, however there are varying opinions on this aspect. It could well be that the different strains that developed over time have different heat levels.

At Glen Seeds we produce seeds on the long version of the African Birds Eye. These plants are compact, sturdee and will easily produce a kilogram of Birds Eye Chillies when conditions are favourable.
