Mustard Japanese Giant Red

The incredible green, red and purple mottled leaves of the Japanese Giant Red Mustard have made it popular both as a prized vegetable and as a focal point in flower beds and container gardens. Plants grow to upright to between 30 and 40cm ringed by large purple and red rosettes.

The leaves of the Japanese Giant Red Mustard are extremely versatile.  Young leaves can be used as a brightly colourful peppery salad enhancer or to make a sandwich unforgettable.  Mature leaves can be pickled, give a mustardy clout to juice and can be prepared in the same way you prepare spinach.
