Charleston Hot Chilli
The Charleston Hot Pepper, so called after the very hot Charleston nights, is a type of cayenne pepper that was developed as a pest resistant variety, but is about 3 times hotter than regular cayenne chillies. The vibrant green, yellow, orange and red peppers, depending on their maturity, hang pendulant-like on 45cm-60cm sturdy upright plants.
The Charleston Hot pepper is a relatively small chilli that packs a nearly habenero-esque punch to satisfy the more seasoned chilli lover. This 'uber'-cayenne can be used in much the same ways as any cayenne - fresh or dried in spicy dishes or in sauces because it has retained the classic, full cayenne flavour just with very hot to crazy hot heat.
